NOTES: I believe this is the father of James Baxter Noble. He was the only Noble
in N.C. I could find that was born in Ireland. Also, The siblings names are
exactly the same as James Baxter Noble's children if you include the fathers names.

10, 1842 sold land in Tippah County, Miss, his wife Cyntha also signed; Jan 4, 1845
bought Indian Land in Chickasaw County which is now Tippah County signed as
James Baxter Noble; 1850 Tippah County, MS Census pg 399 John & Cynthia with 5
children; 1860 Tippah County census pg 819 shows him, his wife must be deceased,
and 6 children; 'Tippah County Miss. Marriage Records 1858-1878' pg 44 shows
childrens marriages, also shows his second marriage to Eliz. Cartwright, (widow)

'Tippah County Death Notices 1837-1914'/Don Martini pg 105 shows his obituary, says
he is buried in Paynes Chapel Cemetery; Also Obituary from Southern Sentinel,
Ripley Miss July 7, 1892, Speaks of being an Alliance man, a vacant seat in
Church, and buried in Paine Chapel Cemetery with Alliance honors.
His first seven childrens names are exactly the same as his name, his father's
name and his siblings names! His youngest child Cynthia probably named after

NOTES: I have several pictures of him and his family. He moved to Barry,
Tx. in 1895. His Civil War Military Service was: Co C, 7th Mississippi Partisan
Rangers Cavalry, Confederacy, Civil War. He enlisted Aug 1, 1862 at Orizabra
near Ripley, Miss. as a private. He was in the battle of Corinth, and the
Battle at Brices Cross Roads. They took part in the raids with Nathan Bedford
Forrest throughout Tennessee & Kentucky, and were in many skirmishes. He
was a prisoner by surrender May 1865 and Paroled Jun 10, 1865 at Memphis, Tn. He
took Oath of Allegence in 1866. He was a member of the C.M. Winkler Confed.
Veterans Camp #147 in Corsicana, Tx. He was bestowed the Southern Cross of
Honor by the Navarro Chapter #108 of Daughters of Confederacy, April 26, 1917.
This medal was stolen when someone burglarized David's cousin James Wells's house.
John's uniform is in the possession of the Daughters of the Confederacy in their
museum which is now at Hillsboro College in Hillsboro, Tx. Married by Rev.
Pryar Scally officiating.

NOTES: They were Baptists; He filed for a Patent on apparatus to store
Sweet Potatoes called a 'vacuum curing system' May 8, 1917. Supposedly sold
potatoes to Military for WWI food rations. He was Vice President of the
'Producers Sweet Potatoe Exchange' in Dallas, Tx. Lived in Navarro Co, Gregg
Co, & Smith Co, Tx. for several years.
